Why are the numbers of CTiBabySkin samples limited?

Babies are small, so naturally their umbilical cord is too! The number of useable explants from each cord depends on the size of the baby and the umbilical cord. But you can expand your testing by increasing more donors. The more donors you test, the more accurate the test will be.

Can I receive CTiBabySkin kits in my country?

We are currently distributing in Europe, USA, Canada, India and parts of Asia. We have distributors in different global territories who can help you.

On the How To Order page you can see some of them. If you cannot find someone in your country then please Contact Us.

What is the red gel on the babyskin in the kit plate?

The red gel is transport media to protect the samples during transport. When the samples arrive you gently remove most of the gel from the samples and place into culture. The remaining red gel will fall away during culture.

Do the samples change shape over time?

Sometimes the samples will become more round during culture in the incubator. If they do, you can add products on top for testing using a sterile gauze to hold them in place.

Do the samples change colour over time?

Depending on the original baby, the samples might change colour slightly. This does not normally affect the outcome of tests.

What sort of results can I expect?

That depends on what you are testing on the samples. Some products may only have subtle effects, but others may have very noticeable effects.

What sort of testing outcomes can I look for?

  • histology analysis for structure

  • histology analysis for neonatal skin markers

  • colour analysis

  • cytokine analysis

  • molecular biology analysis
